Hi,

I bought a car four weeks ago and after two days when I’m driving 70 MPH or now whenever time vehicle cutting off. No dashboard lights on. I was at four mechanics three times towing, ECU change 5months ago sensors also. Today the mechanic told me about plugging into the ignition coil pack that looked loose and when he moved it started again. So, they said they fixed. I asked to drive with me. He said okay, after driving/during car cutting off twice and twice started when mechanic moved cables from plug to coil pack. When we arrived back, he checked on the working engine if he would move cables if engine will be stalling but it didn’t happen. He doesn’t know if it’s coil pack plug or broken wiring loom and if it’s even this.
Could you give me some advice if it looks like wiring? Or is this plug loose with wires?
PS. No fault codes.

Hi,

First, this vehicle isn't offered in the US, but I will try my best to help.

It does sound like a connection issue. Tell me this. When it stalls, are you able to restart it right away? Also, are there any diagnostic trouble codes that may indicate a problem with a specific cylinder?

Keep in mind, if the vehicle restarted after moving the wiring to the coil, I feel that has to be where the issue is. If you disconnect the connector, inspect the connector pins in it to confirm there isn't a corrosion issue or if one of the pins is pushed out of place.

Let me know.

Joe

I feel the problem is within the wiring harness. If possible, could you take a few pictures of the harness and upload it for me to see? It may help.

Let me know.

Hi Joe,
I apologize for the late reply a lot was going on with the car at mechanic, but I hope they found right thing. They changed already this part and car is moving not cutting off/fingers cross.
So, pleasure cost me over 700Â and it was completely damage catalytic converter which gave wrong readings etc. I am just surprised that with 70,000 on clock cat can break.
Do you think it could cause problems with coil pack which damage ECU (both change with last 2 years) and this damage cat?

Hi,

First, I'm glad to hear it's fixed. As far as the catalytic converter is concerned, it is odd that it failed so soon. However, it does happen.

As far as the coil packs and ECU, I don't feel the converter would have damaged anything. They simply work based on signals. If a signal is wrong, they don't know. LOL

Regardless, I'm really glad it's fixed. Please feel free to come back anytime in the future. You are always welcome here.

Take care,

Joe
