Not starting properly and Shift Sys Fault, message

Hello,

The message shift system fault gets displayed when the transmission is not able to engage park properly. Which will prevent it from starting.
This issue can get triggered due to a malfunction within the transmission control module.

To find out the issue this will require a diagnostics of the transmission module with a vehicle specific scanner.
This will require a trip to the dealer to diagnose and fix.

Since this vehicle is under warranty (with 20,000 miles and 2021), your best option would be to call the dealer and have this towed to them. The tow bill should get covered under warranty as well.

The car managed to fix itself and is driving fine again. I did try to talk with the dealer, but they wanted to schedule an appointment. Your information was very helpful. After the car started again and kept running, it displays a message no source available. We had just had the car inspected and I wondered if when they ran their computer if the car's computer was not correctly restarted.

It is good that the vehicle is driving again. Keep in mind since it happened once it can happen again. Also, usually with issues like this (being intermittent), the dealer will have to duplicate the issue in order to properly diagnose.
With all the computers in modern vehicles there could be glitches that may or may not show up again.
Let me know if you end up taking to the dealer and what they say.
