I replaced the motor and switch no change. The window moves freely with the motor removed. I also checked for power and continuity to the switch and then to the motor all where good. Does the ECU have anything to do with this?

Good afternoon,

No, it does not.

I attached a wiring diagram for you to view. Do you have a voltmeter to some some voltage checks?

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-wiring

Check the red/violet wire for power.

Okay, when you command down, does the gray wire have power?

There are two grey wires at the motor plug one show's 5 volt all the time the other one is showing .4 no change if I hit the switch in either. This is with the new switch the old one is exactly the same result.

Can you unplug the window motor and recheck the voltages for me?

Unplugged both the up and down show 5 volt until switch is pressed at which time they both drop to .3 volts this is the same with new and old switch.

Okay, that is what I wanted to see. You need a power window motor. The voltage is dropped out once it gets to the motor.

The motor itself works with direct 12 volts both the old and the new one. But your thinking both are no good?

Question, should I be able to plug a new window motor to the harness and it operate even if it's unmounted?

The 5 volt signal is being dragged down inside the motor. If you fed the grey wire with 12 volts, that ruined the motor. That should only have 5 volts and you spiked it with 12.

Yes, it should work but you need to follow the instructions I posted for the relearning.

I fed the motor directly not through the plug but with the plug removed. But a brand new motor straight from the auto parts store will not plug in and operate. I have not mounted it to the door yet but this shouldn't matter correct?

Okay, so the relearn process has to be done before it will operate at?

No, not to operate but to operate correctly, yes.

Okay, so I'm assuming something else is still wrong as the second brand new motor still will not operate any at all plugged directly in the harness from the box.

You cannot apply 12 volts to a 5 volt line. You fail the electronics inside the motor.

I haven't supplied 12 volts to anything except the 12 volt motor itself completely bypassing ever wire all together, but this brand new motor still doesn't work straight from the box plugged directly to the harness. still not working at all not even attempting to move the motor.

Inside the motor is a processor. The wires you powered are signal wires that carry low voltage signal. Look at the diagram I sent you and you will see that there is a processor in the motor.

You spiked the signal side with 12 volts and that damaged the processor.

If you remove the bolts you can access the positive and negative post directly to the motor; this is how I tested the original one the other two are brand new with no change in the results.

I have no doubt that the processor can be overloaded but I bypassed it. Regardless the two new motor are doing the same as the original one and it was the only one I checked.

Remove the processor from the motor it is bolted on I tried to send you a picture I assume it didn't come through the motor itself is 12 volts. Beyond that these two new motor do not work still. I'm going to try the relearn process with one of them and see if that helps.
