I have the haynes repair manual and it doesn't tell me where or how to remove inspect or adjust the r&p. I had my power steering pump changed and drive belt because it was squealing bad this is after changing both CV axles and they broke the power steering switch and didn't tell me causing me to begin leaking fluid. So I replaced it and its harness cause the old wouldn't come apart none of which stopped the noise. After a few weeks of constant refilling the reservoir my steering wheel began getting stiffer by the day so I jacked it up and had my kid to turn the wheel back and forth to try and bleed the system and noticed that when she turns all the way in one direction my tire barely turned but the other side turned fine I used 3/4 of the big bottle of Lucas power steering stop leak that all ended up on the ground so is this a rack and pinion gone bad or a block on the power steering system and can you show me where to find a pic of the undercarriage labeling all the parts it the sl sport version or where I can find a more detailed manual the haynes doesn't give much info on allot of things.

Good afternoon,

First, adding that stop leak was a bad idea. Now you do need to replace the rack and pinion. All that stuff does is swell the seals and the seals fail very shortly after installing.

I attached the procedure for you below for the rack and pinion. Make sure you flush the system of all that sealer. If you do not, you will ruin the new rack and pinion.

It was for a 2 wheel drive unit that has a rear differential. You posted 2 wheel drive in your description.

Yes. That is the same as a FWD vehicle.

That is the information Alldata has listed for your vehicle.

Does your vehicle look different?

I'm just not sure of how to do this tbh i'm not very experienced and i'm doing it alone and my manual does not give any real step by step details so I didn't know if there was a difference' so I asked can you please tell me step by step how to remove it from my truck? At this point I've removed the power steering feeder hose the tie rod cotter pin and locking bolt. I can see i'm going to have to replace the boots on both sides because they are not attached like it says they should be. But i'm not sure what to do next because my manual isn't very detailed on anything with my power steering system. I believe it's a haynes manual. So if you can tell me step by step then I won't feel as confused as I am right now and fearful of messing something else up. Please and thank you in advance.
