My son told me that a few days ago the steering became stiff. I asked him to check the psf and also look for a leak. Psf box was nearly empty so I asked him to fill it. As soon as he started the car the fluid began disappearing which is when he told me he noticed that same fluid leaking from the right side of the car, (passenger side.) He took it to mechanic who quickly quoted him $700 which discouraged my son. It's his first car, he's only 18 and is clueless when it comes to machines, not that I'm a master mechanic, but I do dabble from time to time. However, I'm on the road, working. Does this sound like its a hose issue?

That's not enough information to understand what the issue is here. He could be talking about a pump at that price.
