Power steering leak

Hi,

I bought a high pressure hose for this car, it connects to the bottom of the power steering pump and ends as a hard line on the rack. What's the procedure for this? Looks cramped.

Hello,

Here you go follow these procedures and you should be okay.
Power steering fluid reservoir to power steering pump supply hose.

Removal:

Open engine compartment and fit paintwork protection covers.
Place a drain pan under the pump.
Disconnect hose from pump.
Release clip (1).
Disconnect hose and allow it to drain (2).
Fit blanking plugs to pump and hose.
Disconnect hose from reservoir.
Release clip (1).
Disconnect hose (2).
Fit blanking plugs to reservoir stub pipe and hose.
Remove clips from hose.
Remove drain pan and discard fluid.

Installation:

Installation is reverse of removal procedure.
Refill with new fluid and bleed air from the system. Refer to power steering system filling and bleeding.
Power steering pump to steering gear pressure line.

Removal:

Open engine compartment and fit paintwork protection covers.
Raise vehicle on a four-post ramp.
Place a drain pan under steering rack.
Remove retaining straps which secure hose to steering rack.
Disconnect hose from steering rack.
Remove bolt from retaining plate (1).
Release hose, hold it clear of steering rack and allow fluid to drain (2).
Fit blanking plugs to hose and steering rack port (3).
Remove drain pan and discard fluid.
From above the vehicle, disconnect hose from pump.
Release union nut (1).
Disconnect hose (2).
Fit blanking plugs to hose and pump port (3).
From below the vehicle remove hose.
Remove hose (1).
Remove mounting rubbers from hose (2).

Installation:

Installation is reverse of removal procedure.
Secure hose to track.
Locate hose and retaining plate (1).
Fit and tighten bolt (2).
Fit hose to pump.
Remove blanking plug from hose (1).
Fit a new O-ring seal to hose (2).
Remove blanking plug from pump (3).
Fit and tighten union nut (4).
Refill with new fluid and bleed air from the system. Refer to power steering system filling and bleeding.
Steering gear to fluid cooler return hose

Special Service Tools.

Removal:

Open engine compartment and fit paintwork protection covers.
Raise vehicle on a four-post ramp.
Place a drain pan under steering rack.
Disconnect hose from steering rack.
Remove bolt from retaining plate (1).
Release hose (2), hold it clear of steering rack and allow fluid to drain.
Fit blanking plugs to hose and port (3).
Disconnect cooler to steering rack hose.
Release Quick Fit hose clip using special tool 310 - 044.
Disconnect hoses and remove tool.
Fit blanking plugs to both sections of hose.
Remove drain pan and discard fluid.

Installation:

Installation is reverse of removal procedure.
Tighten retaining plate bolt.
Fill with new fluid and bleed air from the system. Refer to power steering system filling and bleeding.
Steering gear to fluid cooler return hose

Fluid hoses

Item Description:

1. Return Hose.
2. High Pressure Hose.

If vacuum filling equipment is available, proceed as follows:

Disconnect both the high pressure hose (2) and return hose (1) from the PAS pump and the return hose from the steering rack.
Drain as much fluid as possible from the system by turning the steering from lock to lock two or three times.
Reconnect all hoses.
Fill the system using the vacuum equipment according to the manufacturers instructions.
Start the engine and top up the fluid as necessary.
Turn the steering from lock to lock two or three times with the engine running, topping up with fluid as necessary.
If possible, run the engine for twenty minutes to expel any remaining air.
