I have a power steering leak on the rack and pinion sensor. I was told that it is a proportional valve, but it also looks like the power steering speed sensor, so I would like to know what is the difference between the power steering proportional valve and the power steering speed sensor and where is the speed sensor located?

The proportioning valve distributes hydraulic pressure, the speed sensitive steering uses vehicle speed to dampen the effect of power assisted steering at certain speeds. The actuator (sensor) is attached to the steering rack.
