About a year ago the power steering went out. Took it to a shop and they flashed the computer and it worked again. About 3 weeks ago the power steering went out again with the message faulty assist. Took to 2 shops who could not get a code so said the computer needed to be flashed again but had to take it to ford or a shop that had Ford codes. So, I had the car towed to a shop I have used in the past. Well, they said they did get a code and needed to replace the power steering modular. My key did not work for the ignition, but I just used my auto start. Well, the shop said in order to fix the power steering they would need to replace that ignition. Both at a $1,600.00 price tag. Well, it's been 3 weeks and still not fixed, seems 3 faulty replacement parts arrived, and they are waiting on parts. If they are replaced with new parts and they don't work, my fear is the computer needs to be flashed still. But I have no clue and worry because I am a woman, they given me the run around.

Hi,

I'm not sure I understand. They told you to take it to a place that had Ford codes? That really makes no sense.

As far as your concerns, I understand. Is the vehicle at a Ford dealership? Which part are they getting that is defective?

Let me know.

Joe
