I need the location of the power running boards modulator. I’ve been told it’s on the drivers side door pillar, but I’d like some confirmation and possibly a schematic. Thanks.

I attached the process for replacing it which shows the location. Plus the process for the trim to gain access. Let us know if you need more info. Thanks

I’ll let you know if that’s the problem. Our running boards seem to work but the passenger side is really noisy and tends to work on its own when I’m driving. The motor is working, we’ve greased up the hinges and joints, and the modulator is the next option. We haven’t replaced the motor yet but since it is working we think maybe the modulator is the problem.

If it is noisy, can you get a recording of the operation so we can hear it? This could be the motor itself. Hearing it will help identify it. Thanks

I suspect the motor is the issue. The fact that you have to pick up on it and it gets quite shows that the motor is not able to pick up the running board anymore. The module just supplies the power at the proper time to run the motor. So the fact that this is happening when this is moving, I would go with the motor. I attached the process on this.

Thanks so much. I think we will go the motor and bracket route now and hope that’s the fix. I will let you know. I really appreciate your help. We can have an idea but it’s nice to have someone like you who knows.

Just an update. We have replaced the step motor yet as we ran into a couple other needed repairs. But it’s on the list.
