I just replaced my timing belt, water pump, spark plug wires, but did not change spark plugs because I just replaced it awhile back. After I ran engine I got the check engine light. I took everything back off and redid the TDC. This time check engine light is out but the tachometer is reading 1000 rpm. I then adjusted the TPS to 650 rpm everything runs okay, but it seems like when I accelerated, it felt like I am losing power and it sounded a cylinder is not firing.

If the engine was out of timing (resetting to TDC) there is a chance you bent a valve in the cylinder head. Here is what I suggest. Since there seems to be a misfire, complete a engine compression test on all cylinders to determine if one is much lower than the others. If it is, I suspect internal damage due to improper engine timing.

Thank you for your immediate response to my query. I will do the engine compression test this weekend and hope for the best. I will probably ask a question or two in the future regarding this matter. You are the expert! Thank you!
