Power loss, Engine says reduce power and then it shut off?

just to keep everyone up to date. power lost light that came on and engine lost power. The mechanic could not figure out what the problem was after changing the fuel pump 3 times. I took car to the dealership, and they also said it was the fuel pump and replaced it. The cost $700.00. This was not the problem! Eventually the dealer got in contact with tech support at Chevrolet who sent them a bulletin telling them that the fuel pump runs on the camshaft causing it to wear down causing the engine to lose power. Cost for replacing the camshaft over $2,500.00. If you don't replace the camshaft when this happens you lose fuel pressure. Also chevy has the camshaft on back order they had to order the camshaft from a machine shop. Hope the helps anyone thinking about getting a equinox that the fuel pump runs off the camshaft. PS. the vehicle only had 90 thousand original miles.

This is the first time I have heard of this problem, the high pressure fuel pump is driven from the camshaft on the engine for the direct injection system.
