I have a 1.4 amp draw when the car is off.
I isolated the current draw in the cable that goes through the firewall on of the junction box on the upper left of the firewall.

If I disconnect this connector, the power drain goes away.

Hi,

I need a little more info. Could you let me know the color of the wire you disconnect? Also, if possible, could you take a pic of it and upload it for me to see.

Keep in mind, if the wire is coming from the fuse box, you should have a fuse in the box that will stop the draw as well. If you determine which fuse, it is, let me know.

Let me know,

Joe

I disconnected the complete connector that goes to the module that attaches to the throttle pedal.

Hi,

Okay, If I understand correctly, it is the accelerator pedal position sensor (APP). Take a look at the pics (pics 1 and 2) below and let me know if I have the right part.

If that is the correct part, chances are you have a short in the APP. The APP is tied in a loop with the throttle actuator control module. If the draw only happens when you disconnect the APP, chances are that is where the issue is.

With the connector from the APP disconnected, inspect the connector pins and connector for damage, bent pins, or anything that can cause a problem.

If everything checks good, I need you to check the connector pins in the wiring for power and ground to see if there is a specific pin sending power that shouldn't be.

Pic 2 below shows the connector and what each pin is for. Specifically, pay attention to the 5v reference signals and the low reference signal which is basically a ground.

Here is a link you may find helpful:

Let me know what you find.

I disconnected the connector from the TAC and the Accelerator module, and the connector to the Throttle Body. I took some readings. I sprayed all three connectors (Both male and female) And then plugged them all back together. After that the current drain went to zero. Not sure why. I hope it doesn't come back. I figure it was a dirty contact, a stuck relay, or?

Thanks for your help.

Luke,

Good call. It is possible it was an issue with the connector. If it comes back, wiggle one area of the wiring at a time to the components you mentioned and see if the draw changes. You could even have a bare wire that was moved.

However, if it's fixed and working, great.

Take care of yourself and feel free to come back anytime in the future.
