Noticed on the outside of the trans case we had oil or some type of fluid drops. Anybody know what this is?

Hi,

It's hard to tell from a pic because the picture's color may be off. Does it have a reddish tint to it? If so, then suspect transmission fluid.

See if it is coming from around the transmission oil pan. It isn't uncommon for the gasket to fail and leak.

If you determine the pan is leaking, I attached the directions below for servicing the transmission pan and filter. If the fluid is brownish, it is wise to service the filter at this time.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

It wasn’t red. It was a cleanish light brown color with no odor.

Hi,

If the fluid hasn't been changed for some time, it can appear brown. However, motor oil is brown, and standard types of power steering fluid are as well.

Have you checked all fluids? Also, even coolant can look that way so confirm it is full.

Let me know.

Joe
