Had a 100,000-mile service on my car listed above at the dealership. oil change, coolant service, upper engine decarb service and 4 spark plugs. While driving 10 days later on the freeway, I lost power. Check engine and other lights came on. Had it towed to a repair shop I had used many times before (dealership was already closed). He discovered that the intake air resonator was cracked and some of the plastic pieces had wedged in the butterfly valve, causing it to stay open. He replaced the resonator and cleaned the throttle valve housing. Could the dealership have damaged the resonator while doing the above specifics of the 100,000 service? I do have the cracked resonator and plastic pieces.

Hi,

The air filter box and air inlet would have likely been removed to service the engine. To answer your question, certainly it would have possibly been damaged.

Did the repair shop that fixed it indicate the same thing?

Let me know.
