I have a Porsche 944 (1989) 2.7 litre, which I have only had for 6 months. It is lovely to drive but has started to lose power consistently whilst I'm driving. I don't know much about car engines but have tried the usual- checking spark plugs, replaced HT leads, and am now baffled as to what else it could be. It seems to start okay and then dies at high & low revs so there's no pattern. I was thinking it could be connected to the immobiliser, but don't know if this would be the case. Please could someone help and advise me of the next best- and cheapest- course of action.

Thanks,
Mark.

First you what to check which system is failing causing the condition you describe. I would first monitor fuel pressure, ignition system to see if those systems are causing the failure. If so replace the failed component. Fuel pump or ignition module etc. If theses systems check ok I would test for a exhaust restrictions like a partially plugged catalytic converter.
