Engine Mechanical problem
2002 Porsche Boxster

i've just looked at this car today, and me and my partner checked it over as well as we could,he looked underneath the drivers side of the car and could very slight, wet patches on the bottom of the car,so he got some paper and rubbed it over them and it was oil, when we had taken the car for a drive,it was only 1/2 full of oil,may because we had just been driving it,because you can't actually get to the engine, without taking off roof of the car,we are concerned that it may be an expensive problem wrong with it,any suggestions what it may be?

The fact that the engine was low on oil and you did see signs of leakage is a sure sign of a problem. One of the main problems they have with these cars are the rear main seals leak oil(very expensive). But I must say they are a blast to drive. I would definetly pay a mechanic to check it over good before buying, and if the seller acts like he's insulted or something that should tell you something right off. But with signs of oil leaking, be prepared, to do repairs, right off.
