The 928 Porsche has a ball-end bolt as part of the manual shift linkage that acts as a pivot point for the shifter. Apparently the Porsche manual recommends removing the transmission to replace this bolt. The labor to drop the transmission and other components to access this bolt costs more than $2000. Is it possible to replace this bolt without dropping the transmission?
