When I switch to recycle my air flow drops by about a halve. Thi happens with both the AC and just normal vent. How can I check to make sure that the inside intake port is clear? Where is the port and can I get to it?

The intake is usually on the passenger side floor. This is one of those deals where you will need to take it apart til you get to where you want.Check the Hepa-filter first, just to be sure it is clear. You can also use amirror to look into theplenum while the Hepa filter is out.It is located behind the glove box

There is a foam "recycle air" filter that filters the air when you have the heat or A/C controls set to "recycle mode". This foam filter gets blocked with dirt and debris from inside the car. It is separate from the easily available and replaceable cabin filter that is behind the filter door (which is behind the glove box). The foam filter is located just above the filter door for the disposable cabin filters. I have found these foam filters to be completely blocked by dirt, oils, smoke and hair.
I am not sure how to service this foam filter other than to poke it out of its position and remove it through the replaceable cabin filter door. One might then position a new piece of foam air conditioner filter over the opening you just created and tape it in place.

Welcome to 2carpros. Com:

As mentioned, if the cabin air filter is blocked, it could cause a problem. Here are the directions for removal and replacement. The attached pictures correlate with these directions.

Let me know if this helps. If it doesn't, we will need to check the mode door operation.
