Electrical problem
1998 Pontiac Transport 6 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 300000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
my battery light was on for a few days and as i was driving, the lights went dim, then off, then the car turned off. i suspect it is the alternator because the battery is good and the belts are all good as well. the problem i have is getting at the alternator. it is behind the engine block and dosent look like it will be able to fit out of its spot without taking apart some of the engine. is there an easy way to do it? i notices there are some hinges at the front of the engine attached to the block. do i have to lower the block in order to get the alternator out?

I believe if you remove the plastic cover then the wiper drive arm for the pass side, you can squeek it out of there.....nice design huh?
