I have an automatic sliding side door on my 1995 Pontiac Transport. The problem I have is that, even with this side door closed, the "open door" light indicator on the dash panel lights up as if the side door was open (even if it is closed shut). When I press the open door button, it unlocks and releases, but will not open. As a result, my interior lights stay on all the time and this drains my battery. I have pulled the "tail light fuse for 30 seconds to reset it (as the owners manual suggests), but this does no good. Can you tell me what I need to do to fix this problem? I appreciate any help you can provide. Tim

Isnt there a dome lamp override switch on the overhead console? Can you manually close the door?

All the interior lights stay on, regardless whether I override them. As if a door is left open. They will not shut off via the lights control, located to the left of the instrument panel cluster. I can shut off the overhead control switch to the sliding door, but the interior lights remain on. I can manually close the door, but the interior lights stay on.

Try this cure, buy a can of brakekleen and a can of spray white lithium grease, spray the latch area, thats the claw in the door where it closes, spray liberally with brakleen, open and close the door 5-6 times, repeat, then spray with the white lube, open and close the door 5-6 times. Reapeat on all doors.
