I love my car but right now its giving me fits. I have a 1993 Trans Am. Automatic. 167,100 miles. My problem is overheating.

One day I was driving it and it started to go up in temp while I was at a stop sign or stop lights but would be fine while driving. So my husband checked the water levels and topped them off. Well, it was fine for a couple days and then it really over heated and completely shut off before I could even pull over. My husband came to the side of the road and filled it back up again and after it cooled down it would crank right back up so I could drive it home.

There no visible signs of a leak anywhere, there is no water in the oil, no smoke anywhere, nothing coming out of the exhaust, and there is no thermostat in it (after another friend told us to try that). When its overheating it overflows the overflow tank. And the heat has stopped working in the car. And just to throw some information in there, the fans are straight wired so they come on when the key is turned on and the radiator cap is brand new.

A friend of ours told us that it was the head gasket. He took off the cap of the radiator after letting it run and revving it up and it had bubbles in the water. He told us to use Bars Stop Leak to save us from doing the head gasket repair. My husband did that and followed every direction to the letter. We thought it worked because for the last two days it was fine. But nope! It has now started to heat up again.

So here is my question....has anyone heard of this problem?? If so, how did you fix it?? I am desperate....please help!!

Check the radiator if its clogged-up and the water pump pumping coolant thru out the engine-if both okay could be air in the system if it continues get it block and pressure tested this will rule out a blown headgasket cracked head or block/intake gasket leak
