My heater went out and I was told by a mechanic that the heater core is really bad and needs to be replaced. Where can I find a detailed diagram showing where the heater core if located? Is it a common problem for 06 Pontiac Torrents heater to go out?

Hi,

The heater core on this vehicle really isn't a known issue. However, if the cooling system isn't serviced properly, it can lead to it getting plugged. Also, if someone mixed traditional "green" coolant to the factory Dexcool coolant, that will cause all kinds of issues.

As far as the heater core, it is located in the vehicle under the dash. To get you started, here is a link you can use as a guide. It explains the procedure in general and can be very helpful.

If you look at the attachments below, they provide the directions for removal and replacement specific to your vehicle.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
