2005 Pontiac Sunfire Four Wheel Drive Automatic 33,000 miles

Just the other day my RPM gauge went crazy and the indicator just dropped down. I didn't worry about it since I don't think the RPM gauge is really important then last night my mileage gauge went off and showed 85 miles and hour when I was going very slow on and small road then it went to 95 and to 110 and just dropped down like the RPM. It doesn't move at all now. I'm wondering if this is an electrical connection problem or what else it could be.

I'd have the codes, checked. Some of the national brand autostores will check codes for free. There are PO codes for the VSS, vehicle speed sensor. I can't tell if the sensor is the problem or something else, check for codes.
