Engine Mechanical problem
2000 Pontiac Sunfire 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Can just the belt tensioner wheel on my 2000 Sunfire with 2.4L engine be replaced or does the whole tensioner assembly have to be replaced? I suspect the tensioner wheel bearing is running dry on lubricant.
Thanks,
Mike

Thanks for the fast reply BMRFIXIT. My GM workshop manual only shows replacing the whole assembly. If I can ask one more question; do I just put on a socket and torque the pulley bolt counterclockwise or do I need to block the whole tensioner assembly to stop it rotating counterclockwise as well?
Thanks,
Mike

No need to block it if you do not have the means to do it
use a socket and it should loosen up

I've purchased a new pulley; would you happen to know the correct torque value?

Thanks,
Mike
