2000 Pontiac Sunfire 4 cyl Automatic 135000 miles

My car started leaking oil massively about 2 wks ago. At first not so much, but now oil is basically draining alomost right out. I've noticed today that the wheel well on the front passenger side is caked in oil and oil residue. It is also smoking when driven, but I think that is just coming from the oil leaking. What could this be?

Thanks!

Make sure your oil filter is tight and by the filter is the "oil pressure sending" unit. Check if this unit is leaking also. Let us know.

Thanks!! The filter had a crack in side! I couldn't see it until I turned the car on with the tire off.

Glad you found it. Filters are a "lot" cheaper than motors.
