1996 Pontiac Sunfire 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

i have and electric transmission in my 1996 pontiac sunfire and it is not performing right. It seems as if there is a strain or stall to it. When putting my car is drive it doesnt go over 20 or 30miles without the sound of my car sounding as I it is straining in a way of its gears changing plus, it is lound when pressing the peddle. It runs hot and cuts off couyld this be a wiring problem or is my transmission giving out? What does this sound like to you?

Do you have a check engine light on and when was the last tune-up?

Check the transmission fluid condition and level-if ok, the transmission is slipping bring it in and have it checked out.
