I currently have a problem with my 1993 Pontiac Sunbird. When I try to adjust where the air is coming from i.E. Defrost, Middles Vents, Floor Vents, I cannot. The air is only blowing from the Middle Vents and will not change to the other settings. Also the only setting that works on that top range of settings is "Off". None of the AC settings seem to change anything either. However the bottom slider does adjust the heat/cold of the air that is blowing.

My fan motor works fine, it was just replaced. I also replaced my thermostat recently as well as blew out in front of the heater core where there was some leaves and buildup slightly blocking air flow.

I'm guessing there is an electronic module that controls which way the air flows? If so where would it be located?

Actually, the vent door actuators are run by vacuum. If you just had the heater core replaced, there is a good chance that they left a vacuum hose off or loose. Check under the dash for possible vacuum problems. If the engine is running, you may hear a hissing sound from where the leak is located.

Let me know what you find.
