Steering problem
1991 Pontiac Sunbird 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

The power steering hose has been removed as it had a three inch hole/ tear in it. The owner has not been able to replace it yet.

Is it ok on the car to drive it this way? I have read on Ask Yahoo that it depends on if the power steering fluid is used as lubricant for the steering gear box which I don't know if so on this car. What about the power steering pump with no fluid?

Thanks.

Don't drive it like that. There is a good chance you will end up replacing the rack and pinion.
