Engine Mechanical problem
1990 Pontiac Sunbird 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 212 KM miles

So I've had this car since 150000kms and am now at 212000. About a year after I bought it, I cracked the head, not fun, anyways got that fixed up but ever since then I have had the problem that it starts infrequently especially if its getting warm outside. Or about a half an hour to an hour and a half after it has been running it sometimes starts. But then ten minutes later it will start. I have replaced all the plugs, wires, distributor cap, battery, alternator, coil, any ideas?

Little more info, motor turns over just wont start, figure might be no spark or no fuel but not sure

Mine is doing the EXACT same thing. I replaced everything, but still (Like just today), I'm trying to start my car but it cranks and cranks. Last time I had that problem it was a loose connection under the car. There is a nut behind the transmission that holds a Grounding wire. If it even comes loose a little bit, she won't start.

Check the connections under the car. If she still doesn't, I'm thinking (Like with my own) that it's the Starter Relay going out.

If the car cranks but doesn't start, it won't be the starter. However, the Relay sits right ontop of the Starter on my '91 Sunbird.

If the car cranks and then just starts ticking, that is a loose connection with the ground of the battery. Usually located in the rear of the starter, where several grounding wires are connected.

I have 208,000 miles on my car. So I know how ya feel.

Thanks a lot, I will try that then. If it does it again I will let you know, and if I find something else that works I will let you know.

Hopefully that's what it is, hard to know due to the fact that it occurs so randomly

Once again my car is not starting, where exactly does that ground wire connect to the transmission, like top or bottom drivers/passenger side, and where does it connect on the firewall, top/bottom, driver/passenger?

O and my car is an automatic, in case that makes a difference

Thanks
