what does compression feel like

when i reset the timing and i place my finger over cylinder number one spark plug hole what does the compression feel like when the piston gets to the bottom of the cylinder??to reset the timing and install the disitributor

im not sure about you car but doesn't the #1 piston have to be at top dead center.

that would be the number one piston at the bottom of the stroke and the rotor on number one

#1 cyl. needs to be at TDC with both valves closed and the rotor pointed at #1 in the distributor.
