1969 Other Pontiac Models rearview mirror repair

I have an almost perfectly good drivers side rearview mirror BUT it won't stand still. I cannot seem to find a way to tighten up the ball socket, so it will stay put.
I have tried adhesive, Rocklanizing, stc. It's still loose.
Does anyone have an idea to fix it?

if there are screws near the ball socket try to tighten them. Otherwise replace it.
