2000 Pontiac Montana 6 cyl

Hi I see alot of people talking about the gaskets leaking on the 3.4 motors.When i asked a friend of mine about it, as i want to buy a montana ,he said thats really because people leave the coolant in too long and after about 50,000 miles it turns acidy and if you change it every year or 2 and keep it clean it will not affect the gaskets IS he right about that? thnk you Frank
