how do I change the fuel level sensor .... is it on the inside of the tank or on the outside

inside, mounted on the fuel pump, you may have to buy a new pump.

why do you say that is there danger to damaging the pump when I change the sensor

its usually cheaper and saves a lot of hassle when buying a new one, theres no danger your goign to do to the pump.
