1999 Pontiac Montana Transmission problems

I believe my transmission is acting up. When we go on trips for several hours it seems to slip when accellerating. Then it seems to go away once we get back from the trip. So is the transmission going out or is it possibly something that can be repaired easily. Also can you get a free accurate estimate on something like this.

Hello,

First lets check a couple things....

Is tranny fluid full?

If so what color is it? It should be Red or some people say Pinkish. If it looks brown or black it is most likely burnt and you will need to have filter and fluid changed.
