The driver's side power windon goes up and down at an angle. I took the car to a body shop and a glass shop.

Body shop - Replace the regulator.

Glass shop - To replace the regulator I have to buy a whole assembly which includes a motor.

The difference in price is approx. $600. Which job is right?

The regualator is probably your problem as the motor is working. Very common on GM. Dorman makes just the regulator I believe or athe least is much cheaper. and that is how I would do it.
There fore, the body shop.
