Transmission problem
1997 Pontiac Montana 6 cyl Automatic 124000 miles

my 1997 van was running fine coasting at 60 mph, all of a sudden the rpm went really high so I let go of the gas pedal. The van started to slow down. I tried stepping on the gas pedal again but it would not go anymore. I coasted to the side of the road, and it will not go into any gear anymore. I have checked the transmission oil it is ok what else can it be or does it have to have the whole transmission replaced?
