Electrical problem
2006 Pontiac Grand Prix 6 cyl Automatic 68000 miles

Hello, I just bought this car. The trunk will not open unless you crawl into the trunk from the inside and open it. When you push the trunk switch on the door and on the remote it just makes a clicking sound under the dash from the module. I thought at first it might have been wires. However, the other day I tried the remote and it opened the trunk like 4 times in a row. After that it wouldnt and hasnt opened it again and it has never opened using the switch inside on the door. What could the problem be? Thanks.

I've answered your question dunno what happened to it. Okay check the turn/hazard fuse 20amp in the I/P fuse block behind the right side of dash in glove box opening. This fuse powers the BCM

If okay find the body control module behind left side of dash , left of steering column check power on the BCM orange wire

If the wiring are okay to it and have power to the BCM on the orange wire -either the BCM is defective or the remote control door lock receiver behind right side of the dash-

NOTE: If you don't have an electrical skills my advise is bring it in-or do a trial and error on this components by substitution

Thanks rasmataz for all your help. After checking and following all wires for broken ones or lose ones. We used jumper cables hooking them up from the trunk plug in to the computer module and were able to jump the wires to make the trunk come open. We are assuming that this means the body control module is bad. Would that be a good assumption. Let me know what you think. If so, I will get a new one and replace the old one. Thanks alot.

Its good place to start that's the one the controls the trunk-all signals have to go thru the BCM before anything happens to the trunk

Hey rasmataz, when you replace a body control module do you have to get it reprogrammed? Its a 2006 regular grand prix. I had to reprogram the theft deterrent system so I could start it. But now the radio is locked and the dic says to "service apply brake sensor soon". I put the old one back in to see if that message would pop up and it didnt so I put back in the new one and called a mechanic at the local dealership and he said it had to be reprogrammed but he said he hasnt done one yet. Does it really have to be reprogrammed and if so, can I do it myself? Or should I just replace the brake sensor since that would be cheaper? Do you know how I can get the code to unlock my radio for free? Thanks ras.

, when you replace a body control module do you have to get it reprogrammed? Yes it needs reflashing by using the Tech2 you might get lucky on the radio will come back on-if not you need the radio numbers attached to the unit so that the dealer will look it up and give you the unlock code-
