2004 Pontiac Grand Prix check gas cap

my issue is my check engine light keeps coming on. because the check gas cap light came on i replaced the cap three times (factory caps) and it still came on i dont understand what the issue is...i am burning more gas and dont no why....please help......

take off the purge solenoid and pressureize it. no flow should go through it. then energize and it should allow flow. if it flows both times energized or de energized its bad.
