2002 Pontiac Grand Prix recent intake gasket change

2002 Pontiac Grand Prix 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I recently just did and intake gasket on a pontiac grand prix wit a 3.1l v6 i got done and went to start the engine it stalled out i put the push rods in order they came out in i checked my timing what could cause the problem? i got it to run but it sounds like a diesel engine.

run it for few minutes oil need to fill up the lifters
if still ,have to remove and check the torque on the rods
