2002 Pontiac Grand Prix knocking at cold start

At cold starts the engine knocks but then goes away after driving a few miles....what could rectify the problem. I have dont the intake manifold gasket twice so far. It was suggested installing a stonger oil pump may help.

Oil could be too thin, weak oil pump or a lifter/s leakdown when it pumps up it vanish away till next start up.
