2001 Pontiac Grand Prix brake lights work tail light don't

2001 Pontiac Grand Prix 6 cyl Automatic

My dash will not light up, I go under the hood and jiggle the fuse box and dash and the tail lights will work. I cannot drive at night. head lights work

The park lamps fuse is in the underhood fuse box. The circuit is hot all the time, the fuse usually has a bare spot over each fuse leg, no need to pull fuse, use a testlite, connected to chassis ground, if both fuse legs are hot, the fuse is good and the circuit has voltage. You may need to check voltage circuits on back side of fuse box, see if anything is loose.
