I am having an issue with the transmission on the above car. It will shift fine from first to 2nd and then hard from 2nd to 3rd and then once it shift to drive the car has nothing engaged. I have heard that this could be a computerized problem. Could you please give me your thoughts before I spend more money than I should.

Other than checking fluid level and shift cable and mounting brackets, it could be a shift solenoid or hydraulic pressure problem and should be checked by dealer or trusted garage.

Some transmission shops were offering free diagnosis, so I would try that first and then shop around for best price.

Anytime you have no foward drive or trans is slipping you want to get it repaired ASAP, slipping especially can cause permanent damage to trans.
