My car has failed emissions with a P0102 code. The engine light goes on and off. It does not have much get up and go and it bucks like crazy when I push the gas peddle I have to let up on it and push back down for it to stop bucking. I am told by some that it is my throttle position sensor, others tell me it is my MAF sensor and still others say it could be an O2 sensor or the catalatic converter. Is there any way of knowing which one it is because I can't afford to replace them all.

P0102= mass airflow, unplug it and see if it drives a bit better, if so, replace it. It may run the same, replace it anyway!

MAF's are expensive what if it turns out to be the throttle position sensor. I can't do them all. I took the throttle position sensor off and the plunger would not move I cleaned it and it seemed to make it a little better. Are you saying I should just change them both?

Test the TPS with an ohm meter, it should operate smoothly, and the resistance should change smoothly,no spikes! Then reattach it and check it with a voltmeter, same rules apply. I am just telling what a P0102 code is, if the TPS sticks, it will give the wrong info to the PCM and this may be throwing the maf off.
