Getting error code P0449 and poor gas mileage (down about 25%)

"EVAP Emission Control System Vent Vlv/Solenoid Malfunction"

Does that mean the solenoid is malfunctioning or it is just tripping the sensor? Where is this solenoid?

2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GT
~96,000
Automatic V6

No serious past engine history.

Can anyone help?

I donated. Thanks in advance.

Ok, so do you think that the solenoid failed or that the sensor just went off and it's something else?
