1999 Pontiac Grand Prix Heater Fan

My Heater fan has several speeds and the first two have not been working for some time. The third and fourth speed just quit working but the fifth speed does work. So now the fan just has an on and an off with no speed setting.

I have the same problem. It started with #1 not working--used #2. Now #2 isn't working--using #3.
I just want to know what to expect when I bring it in for repair. The mechcanic I use to have isn't working there anymore. Trust isn't good with the new one. Hope you can help. I'm afraid to drive now, 60's female.
