Electrical problem
1997 Pontiac Grand Prix 6 cyl 133991 miles

Had low fuel light. Car sputtered and came to a stop. Thought I had just run out of gas. However, after 3+ gallons, car still won't start. What's the problem? What's the solution?

Running a vehicle low or out of gas is a very very good way to blow up a pump, id like to have you perform a pressure test and post back your results to me.

Pressure test requires a manual gauge to be hooked up to the fuel rail on the engine. Do you hear the pump run when you first turn on the key? Its like B5 said, that will kill the pump when they are run out of fuel.
