On my way home in my 1997 Grand Prix it suddenly began letting out a loud rattling sound as I sat idle at a light. Once I start accelerating the sounds increased, then stopped, then picked up again when I came to the next light. A few minutes later I pulled up to my house with smoke coming out from under the hood. The temperature of the car had reached the max and I could hear liquid gushing out from underneath the car. I believe the liquid was engine coolant because it was not so thick.

The next day I tried to move it a few feet from my neighbors house and it would only let out a loud noise and the wheel was locked in place.

What is likely wrong with the car and how much is it to fix?

What color fluid from car? Red (trans fluid), brown (oil) or orange, yellow, green (coolant).

It may be the trans cooler in the radiator ruptured and let coolant get into trans, so check trans fluid (engine running) if discolored (not red), you may have coolant in trans and unfortunatly the trans would have siezed.
