Engine Cooling problem
1996 Pontiac Grand Prix 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 230K miles

the engine temp guage just started to go up and down. it seems to heat up and then every few minutes it drops down to normal, then starts climbing again. Any Ideas? Thermostat, Heater core, Relay, Fuse...?

Most likely a thermostat, but also make sure cooling fans are working.

Also check coolant level.
