Okay : first I would like to say "THANK YOU" for answering this question for me. The Driver's side power seat doesn't work at all??. Doesn't go up or down? or forwards and backwards?? - I think the 96 Pontiac Grand Prix SE model has two little motors under the seat.. WHAT COULD BE WRONG??

Firrst check fuse, next disconnect the electrical connector to seat and measure for 12V. If 12V is present, then switch or motor is bad. Most likely the switch.
