Replaced thermostat, as it was stuck open and car wouldnt warm up. Now it wants to overheat, and then cool back off repeatedly, is this airlock? Or am I missing something? What is the correct way to fill the cooling system on this engine, its the 3.1l

You have some air in system more than likely.

Remove radiator cap, pour coolant (50/50) into radiator until full. There should be an air bleed valve near thermostat, open and bleed until coolant comes out. Fill coolant in radiator. When engine gets warm coolant will start to move through radiator.

If engine overheats, then thermostat is not opening, and is installed wrong, or incorrect part.
